Sea The Stars Racehorse In Two Paintings

Shortly after the 2009 Epsom Derby, I had an idea to immortalise the Irish thoroughbred racehorse Sea The Stars in not one, but two oil paintings. Firstly, I wanted to depict the horse in majestic galloping form, with jockey, Mick Kinane mounted and mid-race pose.

The second was more contemporary in its appearance. A collage painting of the sea, a celestial skyscape and a silhouette of Sea The Stars dominating the centre would make up an interesting experiment, and a new way of depicting this beautiful animal.

or What Happened The Day I Was Born.

Day 1.

March 31, 1973. 7:15pm to be precise.

I have no idea what I am, where I am, or why I’m here.

It’s bright though. Very bright. And noise. Lots of noise.

Several words were repeatedly mentioned, amongst others.

Congratulations. Boy. Red Rum.

Was this code for ‘terminate’ or something less drastic?
